Another round of surprise results in the BHP Billiton Hunter Valley Group 21 Rugby League first grade competition has now set up some interesting scenarios over the next month.
The Devils hammered the Greta Branxton Colts 68-6, thanks to a four-try haul to Steve Waeford, and the Thoroughbreds upstaged frontrunners Muswellbrook Rams 28-16.
At Pirtek Park on Sunday, as the club celebrated Old Boys Day, the Greyhounds continued on their merry way with a stunning 28-18 victory over the in-form Aberdeen Tigers.
Despite the setback, Muswellbrook still sits in top place on 16 points.
But, Denman and Singleton have narrowed the gap, both with 11.
Aberdeen and Scone are locked on 10 points each.
In reserve grade, the Tigers knocked over the Merriwa Magpies 38-28, the Colts pipped the Devils 14-12, the Thoroughbreds accounted for the Rams 26-22 and the Greyhounds handed out a lesson to the Murrurundi Mavericks, 32-6.
Muswellbrook maintained its position at the head of the under-18 table, courtesy of a 22-10 triumph, while Singleton overpowered Denman 18-4.
In women’s league tag, the Magpies trounced the Tigers 54-4, the She-Devils celebrated a 14-12 victory over the Colts 14-12, the Mavettes beat the Greyhounds 26-0 and the Thoroughbreds narrowly defeated the Ramettes 6-4.
