Aberdeen drew first blood when fullback David Murnane touched down in a handy position. Grant Sevell’s conversion put the Tigers ahead 6-0.
Scone retaliated almost immediately through fullback Kyle Wilcher. Although Nick Watson missed the shot, the Thoroughbreds trailed 6-4.
A Watson penalty soon after made it 6-all, which stayed that way until the break.
Buoyed by a vocal crowd, the Tigers pounced in the second half, posting tries to centre Terry Russo and five-eighth Sean Milwood, plus a Sevell goal, to lead 16-6.
Scone grabbed a consolation try when Wilcher charged down a kick and raced away to score in the corner. He added the extras, after the final siren, but Aberdeen triumphed 16-12.
The Tigers now face defending premiers Singleton in the 2016 decider at Muswellbrook’s Olympic Park next weekend.
