Locals called to shape Denman's future amid expected population boom

The Reference Group will provide strategic advice to Council on future planning and development matters, helping ensure future growth is appropriately managed while maintaining the community connection and lifestyle valued by local residents.

In addition to residential development already underway, Council is currently considering several new residential development applications which, if approved, are expected to significantly increase Denman's population. At the same time, Council continues to receive enquiries from businesses seeking to establish operations in the town.

Muswellbrook Mayor Jeff Drayton said the Reference Group would ensure the community has a direct voice in shaping Denman's future.

"Denman is growing, and with that comes both opportunity and responsibility," Mayor Drayton said.

"We want to make sure we plan for growth properly and it reflects the priorities of the people who live here."

"This is an opportunity for the community to get involved in shaping the future of Denman and help ensure development and investment is directed to the right places."

The Reference Group will include the mayor, general manager, councillors and community representatives.

Of the community representatives, a position will be reserved for a nominee from the Denman Chamber of Commerce, and a representative from the property sector with demonstrated expertise in property and planning matters relevant to Denman.

The Committee will provide advice to Council on a range of matters including infrastructure, transport, retail and commercial needs, health and education services, and community assets.
