Flights from $49 on popular Aussie routes as Travel Tuesday sales kick-off

Domestic and international fares are on sale.

Australian airlines are offering huge discounts on international and domestic airfares for "Travel Tuesday".

Jetstar has launched a network-wide 48-hour "Cyber Monday Fare Frenzy" sale with discounted fares across its domestic and international network.

Domestic fares begin from $35 from Sydney to Ballina Byron and international fares include from Melbourne (Tullamarine) to Singapore for $199.

Travel dates vary per route but include mid-January to mid-June for domestic and late January to mid-October for international.

The sale ends at 11.59pm AEDT on Tuesday, December 3, unless sold out prior.

Virgin Australia is spruiking one million discounted fares starting from $49, triple Velocity points and up to 4.5 per cent cashback on already reduced sale fares, for a 48-hour period.

Deals are offered across the carrier's network including international and domestic tickets for travel between January 6 and September 18, 2025. The fares can be booked until Wednesday, December 4, unless sold out prior.

There are one-way fares between Sydney and the Gold Coast from $65, Melbourne and Sydney from $89, and Melbourne and Darwin from $205, and return international fares between Sydney and Queenstown from $435, Melbourne and Nadi (Fiji) from $599, and Sydney and Denpasar (Bali) from $609.

Qantas is discounting 20,000 seats to 60 iconic overseas destinations. The "Travel Week" sale includes fares on some of the airline's most popular routes, including from Sydney or Melbourne to Los Angeles return from $1199.

Other top deals include Sydney to New York return for $1699, Melbourne to Wellington return for $559, Melbourne to Queenstown return for $549, Sydney to Auckland return for $559, Sydney to Vancouver return for $1499, and Sydney or Melbourne to Honolulu return for $1099.

The Travel Week sale includes cash fares and Classic Plus reward seats, allowing Qantas frequent flyers to use their points to purchase sale seats which are also eligible for upgrades.

Qantas International CEO Cam Wallace said more Australians are travelling to Japan, with Tokyo one of the most in-demand destinations on the network.

"From the unique blend of traditional and contemporary cuisine to the allure of iconic landmarks like Mt. Fuji, we're delighted to include Japan in our Travel Week sale, among other trending routes and travel spots such as Honolulu, Los Angeles and Queenstown," Mr Wallace said.

Qantas sale fares are available until 11:59pm (AEDT) on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, unless sold out prior. Fares are available for select travel dates from January through to October 2025 with some blackout periods.
