Sunday Morning Juniors
Four juniors had plenty of games as well as improving their skills with Riley, Aiden, Hayley and Tristan enjoying the extra time on the court. With Roy Frost this weekend Andrew Lennox will look after any juniors on Sunday and juniors will still be on the following Sunday even though it is the Easter weekend. Looking forward to any juniors taking part in the Greenshield development training on Saturday 6 th April at 9.30am at Singleton Heights Squash Centre. Even if you don't wish to play in the Green Shield all juniors are welcome to come along and enjoy playing and meeting new players.
Monday Night Round 6
Royal Hotel blew Robin Hood Bar Grill away with a four rubbers to nil victory with Shane "full of running" Davis overcoming Chris "jet lag" Agosto in a crowd pleasing four set. Chris couldn't get his line and length working after no squash for four weeks which Shane took full advantage of taking the first two sets but Chris fought back to take the third 19-17 in a cliffhanger. Sadly, Shane still had plenty of running left in him to hang on 15-11 in a tough match.
Edward Higgens Parkinson held on to beat Double Picc 15 points to 11 with Josh "dive, dive, dive!" Oldham grabbing two vital games in his five set loss to Scott "run, run, run!" O'Hara. Josh jumped to a 2-1 lead then exploded with Scott taking the fourth 15-2 before both players gave it their all in a see-sawing match, won by Scott 15-10 in the end. Railway Hotel also snuck home by a game 14 points to 11 against Sparke Helmore with Mick "rubber ball" Jones taking an important third game 17-15 against Donna "clobbering time" Murdoch who came back to take the fourth set 15-12.
Tuesday Night Round 6
Muswellbrook RSL have a two rubbers to one lead over Autopro with John "reaching" Taylor keeping Autopro in the match with a hard fought five set win over Sharon "let please (oh I should have said that out loud" Wells with John dropping the first set then found his width to take the next two sets. Sharon had complete control of the fourth winning 15-3 but that just woke John up who completed the win 15-9 in a fun game. Workers Club hold an unbeatable 3-0 lead over Team 6 with a match to play with Belinda "deadshot" Stephens in good form to stop super sub Jono "moving target" Williams in a hard fought three sets. Hunter Medical Practice and Curtis Gant Betts also only played three matches but all went the distance with HMP securing a 2-1 lead by the end of the night. HMP's Ricki "wax on, wax off" Clifford and CGB's Andrew "crane position" Lennox went game for game before Ricki crawled over the line in a thrilling five set match.
Match of the week was also between HMP and CGB with the last game of the night between Anthony "training wheels off" Thomson and Sebastian "supercharged" Angelillo. The pair were also trading game for game and when Anthony went to the lead 2-1 with a dominant 15-4 result the crowd started to file out of the stadium (well, single door of the squash courts). However, Sebastian found another gear to chase down everything Anthony could throw at him to level the match up at two games all with a 15-9 win. Anthony kept his nerve and took his time to keep control of the last game 15-9 in a fabulous game of running and tactics.
See you on the courts.
