Heading to the NSW capital this summer and looking for some great places to eat and drink? A flurry of new restaurants and bars have opened in one of the city's hottest dining precincts, Quay Quarter Sydney, located in the heart of the CBD, a short walk from the Sydney Opera House in one direction and the Harbour Bridge in the other.

Kick off the evening on the rooftop bar of Martinez with Spritz Tropique (a heady concoction of mango, coconut, lemon myrtle and vodka). The chic environs of the Pearl restaurant (think plush leather couches and walls clad in wooden panels) should be the site of your dinner, complete with delicacies such as the slow-cooked smoked soy chicken with lemongrass. Then kick on at Penelope's with their signature Salt and Vinegar Martini in hand. quayquartersydney.com.au

Meanwhile, if you're looking for a reason to book a holiday in Asia, we'll give you three. A number of stunning hotels have just opened in different parts of continent, starting with Umana Bali. Part of the Hilton group and perched on limestone cliffs on the island's southernmost tip, the 72-villa property boasts stellar ocean views and the state-of-the-art Lohma Spa. If you're heading to Singapore, keep in mind Ian Schrager's uber-chic Edition hotel, which has just opened close to the iconic Orchard Road, complete with the Fysh restaurant by renowned Australian chef Josh Niland. Meanwhile, making news in Hong Kong is Regent Hong Kong, which has reopened on Victoria Harbour after closing down in 2001. hilton.com; editionhotels.com; hongkong.regenthotels.com

My all-time favourite destination is ... New York. You can drop a pin anywhere in Manhattan and start walking in any direction, and the sights and sounds of the city that never stops will begin to stimulate all your senses in an instant.
Next on my bucket list is … Scandinavia - at the peak of summer, when the sun almost never sets.
My top travel tip is … If you’re flying to Sydney from anywhere in the world, pick a window seat far from the wing on the left-hand-side of the aeroplane. If the weather gods and flight path align, you’ll have the most incredible views of the Sydney Harbour and Opera House.
