Home and Away actor Johnny Ruffo dies aged 35

The Perth-born singer, writer, dancer, actor and television presenter won Season 12 of Dancing with the Stars in 2012.

Mr Ruffo was first diagnosed with brain cancer in 2017 which returned in 2020.

His struggle with the disease was the subject of his 2022 memoir No Finish Line.

He was with his family and partner Tahnee Sims when he died peacefully, a post to Ruffo's Instagram page announced on November 10.

"It is with a heavy heart that today we had to farewell our beloved Johnny," the post read.

"He was a very talented, charming and sometimes cheeky boy. Johnny was very determined and had a strong will.

"He battled all the way to the end and fought as hard as he could.

"Such a beautiful soul with so much more to give. We all love you Johnny and will remember you for all the joy you brought to our lives."

Former Spice Girl and X Factor judge Melanie Brown said "my heart just broke" upon hearing the news.

The Scary Spice voted against Mr Ruffo when he first appeared on X Factor but grew to be one of his fondest supporters.

Natalie Bassingthwaighte, a judge that voted in favour of Mr Ruffo during his life-changing X Factor audition in 2011, said he was "an incredible human".

Dannii Minogue posted her condolences saying "the cheekiest chap. His voice, smile and dancing feet will be missed by so many. Thinking of his family in this heart breaking time".

TV presenter Johanna Griggs said "hopefully, finally at peace once more. Sending so much love to his family and loved ones".

Comedian Nick Giannopoulos said "Johnny you were one of the bravest souls I've ever met. Always with a smile on your face and a positive attitude".

"You helped give courage and strength to so many all over the world. Rest in Peace my friend."
