Dog saved from attempted kangaroo drowning

A man has captured the moment he confronted a kangaroo trying to drown his dog in a river.

The video shows the kangaroo holding the dog tightly with it's head just above the water before the man walks up, saying "let go of my dog".

The kangaroo is seen lunging at the man with its claws bared before the phone falls into the water.

The footage continues after the man retrieves his phone with the dog freed and the kangaroo standing alone in the water.

The man then gives the kangaroo a parting splash before returning to the dry land.

The video posted on TikTok by Mildura Martial Arts has gone viral online with many viewers shocked a kangaroo would try to drown a dog.

"Kangaroo drowning me in water fear unlocked," one person commented.

Another said the native Australian animals freaked them out.
