A motorway in western Sweden has collapsed after it was hit by a landslide, with at least three people hospitalised with minor injuries, according to police.
Several cars reportedly tumbled over the edge of the destroyed E6 European road near Stenungsund, 40km north of Gothenburg, police said.
Footage showed a long crack running through the road near a petrol station.
Parts of the roof of a fast food restaurant collapsed.
It was initially unclear what exactly had happened and why the road collapsed, police said.
According to the municipality of Stenungsund, the landslide occurred about 1.20am on Saturday.
Special forces and dogs were searching the affected area to make sure there were no people stuck in the mud, according to Swedish media.
Police launched an investigation into work at a construction site in the area where blasting was said to have been carried out.
It was initially unclear whether there was any connection to the collapse of the motorway.
Past landslides in Sweden have often been caused by heavy rainfall, favoured by the soil conditions.
The E6 was closed in both directions.
The motorway stretches for thousands of kilometres through Scandinavia, from the far north across large parts of Norway to the southern Swedish port city of Trelleborg.
