Canberrans crammed into Garema Place to watch the Matildas face France in the quarter final. It was a similar scene at Worth Place in Newcastle and at live sites across the Illawarra for the semi-final match.
Students in schools across the country dressed up in their best green and gold on game days, including those at Assumption School in Bathurst and Riverside Primary School in Launceston.
At Glendore Public School in Newcastle, Principal Annette Van Egmond - mother of star Matildas midfielder Emily Van Egmond - returned from leave to celebrate the team's quarter finals win against France with her students.
