A bakery in regional Victoria has claimed another trophy for the best vanilla slice in Australia.
North End Bakehouse Shepparton in northern Victoria has won The Great Australian Vanilla Slice Triumph after bakeries put their take on the iconic pastry forward for judging.
It's another piece of silverware for the Shepparton bakery which was earlier awarded Australia's Best Vanilla Slice for 2023 by the Baking Association of Australia in March.
The Great Australian Vanilla Slice Triumph was held in Merbein, near Mildura in north-west Victoria on August 19.
Sharp's Bakery Birchip claimed second place for their vanilla slice while Adelaide bakery Banana Boogie rounded out the top three.
Banana Boogie's third-place finish follows a win for its plain beef pie at Australia's Best Pie and Pastie Competition in June.
The bakery also holds the title for Australia's best sausage roll with even South Australian Premier Peter Malinauskas unable to resist a bite, confirming the pastries were "bloody amazing".
