Pottsville is an idyllic little beach town tucked away somewhere between Byron Bay and the Gold Coast. Its beaches are perfect for surfers looking for a less crowded wave, and Pottsville Creek is ideal for stand-up paddle boarding, kayaking or simply an arvo dip. High tide is when this gem shines most, with stunning turquoise waters that are so invitingly vibrant, they could be a postcard.

Kilometres of white sandy beaches stretch along the coastline, and the sheer vastness means beach-goers are treated to their own little patch, rather than battling the crowds for a spot on the sand.
Pottsville is famous for its abundant fishing, on the beach and in the estuaries. Kids cast their lines from Pottsville bridge, and families set up day camps along the grassed areas that overlook the creek, so they can fish from the perfect vantage point.
Mooball Creek is home to a wide variety of species like flathead, whiting, bream and luderick in winter months. The tidal nature of the creek means you don't need a boat, and can wade through the water to fish from the sandbanks.
Spend a relaxing day at the creek with a picnic, some fishing rods and stand-up paddle boards. For little grommets learning to surf, Hastings Point is the next beach north of Pottsville, where the waves ripple into the creek mouth - perfect for beginners. Finish the day with happy hour and live music (on Saturdays) at Baker and Farmer.

The humble town of Pottsville is surprisingly generous in its gourmet offerings. Foodies will be excited to know that Pottsville's Pipit was recently crowned the 2023 Good Food Guide Regional Restaurant of the Year, and offers set menus to showcase the fresh produce that the Northern Rivers region is famous for.
For something more casual, Konoha Sushi offers the perfect post-swim lunch and their salt and pepper squid roll is a must-try. Okky Fish and Chips is a crowd favourite, with an entirely gluten-free menu.
