Australian actor Russell Crowe and girlfriend Britney Theriot were turned away from Melbourne restaurant Mr Miyagi after violating the Japanese-fusion diner's dress code policy.

Mr Crowe was reportedly wearing a "brand new Ralph Lauren polo", according to Mr Crowe's manager Grant Vandenberg.
But staff manning the door deemed the couple's outfit fell foul of the restaurants "smart casual" policy banning beach attire and athleisure, including yoga pants, tank tops and flip flops.
Mr Miyagi's owner, Kristian Klein, backed the restaurant's decision saying the pair were wearing "slobby gym gear" coming straight from a round of tennis they played that day.

The restaurant has invited the couple to come back, saying they enforce a smart casual dress policy, unless you're Russell Crowe, who can wear "whatevs".
"Dear Russell, during your last visit it seems we got off on the wrong foot," Mr Miyagi's Instagram post reads.
"After much reflection on what occurred, we have made a permanent change to our dress code," they said.
"We would love to see you again in the future, you're always welcome at Mr. Miyagi," the restaurant said.
Enforcing strict dress codes is a relatively uncommon practice in Melbourne.
