Move over the motels of yesteryears with drab walls, flimsy furnishings and lurid bedspreads. The motels of 2022 - or shall we say 2023? - are upping the ante with pastel hues, chic interiors and irrepressible coastal vibes.

A case in point? NSW South Coast's Motel Molly, which has just revealed its new look, inspired by the Mediterranean towns of Amalfi and Portofino, following a multi-million-dollar renovation.

While away the afternoon by the hotel's pool or make a beeline for the beach nearby. Just don't forget to make the most of the hotel's complimentary push bikes and explore a bit of Mollywook. Guests are known to ride them to Rick Stein's famous restaurant at nearby Bannisters for dinner.

My all-time favourite destination is ... New York. You can drop a pin anywhere in Manhattan and start walking in any direction, and the sights and sounds of the city that never stops will begin to stimulate all your senses in an instant.

Next on my bucket list is … Scandinavia - at the peak of summer, when the sun almost never sets.

My top travel tip is … If you’re flying to Sydney from anywhere in the world, pick a window seat far from the wing on the left-hand-side of the aeroplane. If the weather gods and flight path align, you’ll have the most incredible views of the Sydney Harbour and Opera House.
