And it may have something to do with the cool duo behind it.

Located on the ground floor of Ovolo Laneways hotel on Little Bourke Street, Amphlett House does a fine trade in both food and drinks.
Melbourne chef Ian Curley and Andrea Gualdi - founder of Sydney's Maybe Sammy, named the best drinking den in Australia by The World's 50 Best Bars - are the duo behind Melbourne's hottest new taphouse, Amphlett House.

Old-world Memphis is the inspiration behind the venue, which is decked out with cane chairs, pistachio-hued banquettes and geometric mirrors.

Kick off the night with ox tongue with salsa verde and fried zuchhini flowers stuffed with caponata, before moving on to blue oyster mushroom skewers with romesco.

Just don't forget to order one of Gualdi's cocktails. Riberry Cosmopolitan with vodka and triple sec, anyone?

My all-time favourite destination is ... New York. You can drop a pin anywhere in Manhattan and start walking in any direction, and the sights and sounds of the city that never stops will begin to stimulate all your senses in an instant.
Next on my bucket list is … Scandinavia - at the peak of summer, when the sun almost never sets.
My top travel tip is … If you’re flying to Sydney from anywhere in the world, pick a window seat far from the wing on the left-hand-side of the aeroplane. If the weather gods and flight path align, you’ll have the most incredible views of the Sydney Harbour and Opera House.
