Just weeks out from the start of summer snow has fallen to relatively low altitudes on the West Coast, with road users having to navigate the surprising conditions.
The Bureau of Meteorology had forecast snow as low as 600m on Monday afternoon for Tuesday morning, prompting a warning from Tasmania Police to people planning highland hikes.
But the snow fell lower than that in places on the West Coast and in the south of the state, blanketing paddocks and road verges across the region.
Braddon MP Felix Ellis posted videos to social media early on Tuesday morning, and said snow could be seen on the drive between Hampshire, just south of Burnie, and Fingerpost.

Another Facebook user posted a photo of the road at the top of Mount Arrowsmith completely blanketed in snow at 7am, while another said it was "snowing hard" between Waratah and the turn off to Cradle Mountain.
Police warned road users to drive with extra caution in high elevation areas.
