Make yourself at home in the City View room with a king-sized bed, Missoni robes and Kevin Murphy amenities, or check into Deluxe Ocean View room with a private balcony.

There's a sensational swimming pool onsite, complete with black-and-white-striped cabanas, and a spate of eating and drinking dens. Book a table at Yamagen for traditional Japanese fare, or head to the stylish Stingray, where you can enjoy Baja California-inspired snacks and pick from a menu of more than 50 tequilas.

Just don't forget to explore what's nearby. Whether you're after some sand-in-your-toes time on Surfers Paradise Beach or want to soak up bird's-eye views from SkyPoint Climb, some of the Gold Coast's biggest attractions are just a short walk away.

My all-time favourite destination is ... New York. You can drop a pin anywhere in Manhattan and start walking in any direction, and the sights and sounds of the city that never stops will begin to stimulate all your senses in an instant.
Next on my bucket list is … Scandinavia - at the peak of summer, when the sun almost never sets.
My top travel tip is … If you’re flying to Sydney from anywhere in the world, pick a window seat far from the wing on the left-hand-side of the aeroplane. If the weather gods and flight path align, you’ll have the most incredible views of the Sydney Harbour and Opera House.
