IF you've always fancied yourself as a pub owner, one of the country's grandest and most historic pubs is up for sale for the first time in 50 years.
The Oaks in Sydney's Neutral Bay is as famous for its fairy light-covered 80-year-old English oak tree in the beer garden, as it is for its stunning building, location and rolicking good times.
It hit the market this week, with current owners the Thomas family looking for expressions of interest over a cool $175 million.

Family representative Andrew Thomas said following a number of unsolicited approaches it felt like the right time for the family to sell and move on.
"We'll leave The Oaks with fond memories and many friends," he said. "It holds a very special place in the Australian hotel landscape, and we look forward to seeing its next incarnation under the new custodians."
The 135-year-old landmark pub may have a special place in people's hearts, but it's far from the only hotel on the market as the sector continues to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.
