The exhibit will be open from Saturday, April 2 to Sunday, May 1, providing rides, Easter Egg hunts, interactive fossil digs and giant animatronic animals for the entire family to enjoy.

Amanda Andrews, the event manager at Hunter Valley Gardens said the Mega Creatures would provide the "perfect day out for everyone during the school holidays".

"We are thrilled to be inviting children and families back to Mega Creatures this year, with a fantastic interactive display of animatronic animals and prehistoric beasts," Ms Andrews said.

Hunter Valley Gardens (HVG) said visitors will be able to step back in time and explore the Dino Land where there will be chance to meet a friendly T-Rex, Stegosaurus, and benevolent Triceratops.

"There will be a flying Pterosaur taking over the sky, a 3 metre tall Woolly Mammoth wandering below and a family of gigantic, crawling insects," HVG said.

HVG said as the sun sets, pre-historic and mythical creatures will come alive for the Mega Creatures Night Safari.

"Beware as you entered the Sunken Garden, a colony of fire-breathing dragons have made camp around an erupting volcano," HVG said.

"The illuminated Spider Ally will leave your skin tingling as you walk through the home of monster spiders."

A number of rides will also be available including a swing chair, a 25-metre tall giant ferris wheel and a super slide.

For keen learners, the attractions will also include a fossil path providing the opportunity to discover amazing dinosaur skeletons and 'Adventure Land', an "interactive play space, with dinosaur gardens to discover" and "hidden fossils to be dug up by budding archaeologists".

There will be plenty of extra fun for visitors to the gardens over the Easter long weekend, with a hopping Easter bunny available for photo opportunities and a giant Easter egg hunt with thousands of brightly coloured eggs to collect.
