Police said between 7pm on Wednesday and 7am on Thursday, January 27, two vehicles including a grey Holden Captiva and a black Ford Ranger were stolen from a home on Carl Lane in Muswellbrook.

At about 6:20am on Thursday, police said officers attached to Oxley Traffic and Highway Patrol were patrolling at Coledale near Tamworth when they observed the grey Holden being driven at speed.

Police said a pursuit was initiated, with the vehicle allegedly reaching speeds of approximately 100km per hour in a 50km zone.

"The pursuit was terminated a short time later, before police located a burnt-out black Ford Ranger near Warral Road, West Tamworth," NSW Police said.

Later on Thursday at approximately 8:20am, police observed three males allegedly stealing a scooter from a carpark at Griffin Street, Tamworth.

Officers approached and spoke with the group outside Tamworth Railway Station and the three boys, all aged 14, were arrested and taken to Tamworth Police Station.

Police said two of the teens were charged with aggravated breaking and entering to commit a serious indictable offence, stealing a motor vehicle and larceny.

"One boy was refused bail and is due to appear before a children's court today (Friday, January 28) while the other was granted conditional bail to appear at a children's court on Tuesday, February 8," NSW Police said in a statement.

Police said the third teenager was dealt with under the Young Offenders Act 1997.

NSW Police said investigations into the incident are ongoing.
