The UHSC said the vandals had broken into the site and "caused enormous plant damage, stole items and vandalised the work site".
The Council said the site office had been vandalised while a mini excavator, D7 and D5 dozers and three 30 tonne trucks suffered extensive damage including smashed windows.
Fire extinguishers were also discharged inside the cabin while grease guns and UHF radios had been stolen.
The Council said footage of a vehicle seen near the site had been given to police and urged members of the public with any further information to contact Merriwa Police Station on (02) 6548 2203.
