A man has been charged after allegedly stabbing another man in the neck following what police described as a domestic-related incident in Muswellbrook on Tuesday, January 18.

NSW Police said emergency services were dispatched to Brook Street in Muswellbrook at about 9:20pm on Tuesday night, following reports a 47-year-old man had been stabbed in the neck.
Police said the injured man drove himself to Muswellbrook Hospital before being taken to the John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle where he remains in a critical but stable condition.
Officers attached to the Hunter Valley Police District attended and established a crime scene and following inquiries police attended Hunter Terrace in Muswellbrook at about 2am on Wednesday, January 19, and arrested a 53-year-old man.
Police said the man was taken to Muswellbrook Police Station before he was also transferred to John Hunter Hospital for treatment, under police guard.
The man was later released from hospital and taken to Newcastle Police Station where he was charged with one count of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Police said the man was refused bail and is expected to appear in Newcastle Local Court on Thursday, January 20.
