Scone High School student and Vice Captain Trinity Preston has been named the recipient of the 2022 David Laurence Scholarship for developing artists.
The scholarship will provide 18-year-old Ms Preston, who has just completed her HSC, with free private voice tuition for 2022 covering vocal technique, stagecraft, acting, language coaching and professional development.
Ms Preston said she felt honoured to have been selected for the 2022 scholarship.
"Coming from a small town and applying for this international scholarship, I never thought I could compete," Ms Preston said.
"I couldn't be happier to have this scholarship assist me in reaching my future goals and pursuing my natural born talent to sing."
Ms Preston will also be guided by new mentor, scholarship convenor Livia Brash, an Australian operatic soprano based in Germany.
Ms Brash said Ms Preston was already on the "path to stardom".
"By age 15, she was already winning open-age singing competitions, and at 16 her original song 'Give me a Name' (which she recorded with Australian Idol winner Damien Leith) was aired on Power FM," Ms Brash said.
The David Laurence Scholarship was created in honour of the late father of Ms Brash, Dr David Laurence "Larry" Brash and aims to promote access to high-quality music education and support gifted developing artists to reach their full potential.
