Hunter New England (HNE) Health has reported zero cases of COVID-19 across Upper Hunter LGAs on Thursday October 14, however case numbers elsewhere in the wider region are continuing to rise.
A total of 103 new cases were announced across the HNE, with the highest number in Tamworth LGA with 19 new cases announced.
Elsewhere, 18 new cases were reported in Newcastle, 16 in Cessnock, 15 in Lake Macquarie, 13 in Mid-Coast LGA, 12 in Maitland, eight in Port Stephens and two in Gunnedah.
New cases in the HNE region accounted for more than 25 per cent of the statewide total of 403 cases announced by NSW Health this morning.
There are now 1,146 active COVID cases across the HNE region, with 21 people currently in hospital and four in intensive care.
NSW Health also announced the deaths of six people, bringing the total number of COVID-related deaths since June 16 to 454.
According to NSW Health, 91.1 per cent of people aged 16 and over have received the first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and 76.5 per cent are fully vaccinated.
In Muswellbrook, 88.1 per cent of eligible residents have received a first dose and 56.5 per cent are fully vaccinated.
Meanwhile in the Upper Hunter Shire, more than 95 per cent of residents had received their first dose and 76.7 per cent of residents were fully vaccinated as of October 10, 2021.
