At the most recent council meeting, council acknowledged the passing of Bob Paton, a well loved member of the Murrurundi community.
Bob sadly passed away on Saturday 22 August.
Bob's contribution to the community was invaluable, he was involved in many community organisations including the King of the Ranges Stockman's Challenge Committee and also volunteered his time as caretaker of the Rosedale Complex in Murrurundi for many years.
Bob was a valuable member of the Murrurundi Community and the Upper Hunter Shire.
He will be greatly missed.
My heartfelt condolences go to Bob's family.
Council endorsed proposed changes to the route for the Merriwa Cycle and Walkway, after consultation with the community.
I am pleased that council was able to work with the community and seek their feedback on this plan, I look forward to seeing this great project come to life in Merriwa.
Council also supported a donation request for $200 to Lions Club of Aberdeen to go toward their Diabetes Awareness fund raising event 'Lap The Map' at McKinnon Oval, Aberdeen.
This is an important cause and I am pleased that vouncil was able to provide this support.
A proposal to create a Scone Tidy Town committee as a sub-committee of the Community Services Committee was also supported by Council. The group will advocate, auspice and partner in organising programs that encourage, local communities, Council, businesses, and schools to reduce litter, increase recycling and beautify and improve their local environment.
This is a great initiative that will have a great impact on our local community.
I thank all involved in this committee and look forward to seeing the great impact they have in our Shire.
Council also awarded the contract to operate the three pools at Murrurundi, Merriwa and Scone for the next three years to Community Aquatics Pty Ltd.
