The first Australian progeny of the Canadian sire HF Alcatraz 60F topped the 9th annual Pentire Angus on-property sale held at 'Greenmount' Goorangoola near Singleton.

Both the top priced bull and female at the sale were progeny of Alcatraz himself a son of May-Way Breakout 1310.
Interest in the Alcatraz progeny was one of the reasons 136 people logged onto the sale through the online system AuctionPlus with bids coming from Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania, Victoria and NSW.
The other reason for the online focus was the fact the Singleton Local Government Area was in lockdown due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Despite the restrictions the sale was an outstanding success with a total clearance of 21 bulls and 18 registered females with lots being sold to Queensland, Victoria and throughout NSW including New England. There was strong local interest and many of whom were repeat buyers.
Lot 8 Pentire Rome R22PV sold for $22,000 to Simmental and now also an Angus breeder Peter Cook, 'Barana', Coolah who attended the sale specifically to purchase Alcatraz genetics according to agent Jason Bower, Roger Fuller Pty Ltd, Singleton, .
Considered by the vendor Justin Richards as outstanding sire perhaps the best sire offered to date by the stud. He said the bull was thick and powerful and he came from one of the most consistent dams in the herd Pentire Pride H36.
Second top price at $17,000 was Pentire Quicksilver Q15 a son of S.Powerpoint WS553 and he was bought by neighbouring cattle producer Darryl Bower who also paid $14,000 for another Powerpoint son this time lot 2 Pentire Quantum. Quantum's dam was also Pentire Pride H36.
Mr Bower also paid $11,000 for lot 11 Pentire Queasy Q18, a heifer's first calf by S. Powerpoint.
Ian Bower another neighbouring landholder bought Pentire Quest a son of MT Hunter Magistrate M5 for $12,000 and Pentire Quick Stop by a home bred sire for $10,000.
The top priced female was the Alcatraz daughter Pentire Leah R36 who sold for $8500 to M & K Frost, Willow Tree.
Siobhon Catling, Denman bought four females including the second priced lot Pentire Leah R18 a daughter of MT Hunter Magistrate. She paid $6500 for lot 25 Pentire Evilest R6, $4500 for Pentire Margret R10 and $4000 for Pentire Gretel R042.
Volume buyer of the females was Steven Little, Pittsworth, Qld who bought five lots.
The one donkey on offer known as Charlie the Donkey sold for $3250.
