South Australia will emerge tonight, as long as there are no "unlinked" cases on Tuesday, after just one new case of COVID-19 was recorded in the state yesterday.
Some heightened restrictions will remain in place though.
Premier Daniel Andrews has flagged masks will likely remain compulsory in some settings, while Health Minister Martin Foley told reporters on Monday "nothing has yet been finalised".
The state recorded 11 new cases yesterday and still has thousands in isolation as close contacts.
The positive point was that for a second day, all new local cases were in isolation for their entire infectious period and no new exposure sites were listed.
In NSW, people are awaiting not to hear when lockdown will ease but rather how long it will be extended.
Restrictions are meant to ease on July 31, but with 145 new cases yesterday it's looking unlikely. The state's Central Coast is also on high alert after a long list of exposure sites saw queues for hours as locals tried to get tested.
