AS construction of Murrurundi's multi-million dollar hospital redevelopment continues, artists in the region are being invited to be a part of the process.
The NSW Government has released an Expression of Interest (EOI) for artists living and working within the Upper Hunter to create commissioned artworks to be featured within the new building.
The EOI, which is part of the Arts in Health Program, is seeking "one or more artists to submit a creative proposal to inspire and delight patients, visitors and staff".
The artwork should be "calm, uplifting and hopeful" to suit a clinical environment.
The EOI closes on Monday, September 28. Photographs and memories from residents are also being sought for inclusion in a historical timeline. For more information contact Kylie Neville on email@example.com or 0438 254 008
Construction is progressing well with the roof on the new building now complete and works starting on the internal services, bricklaying and new courtyard.
The new hospital will include an inpatient service, 24-hour emergency department, ambulance facilities and staff accommodation.
Once all services are moved across to the new building, the current hospital will be demolished.
The redevelopment project is forecast to be complete in 2021.
