THE Upper Hunter Veterans Golf Association commemorated their former president George T. Smith with the running of the inaugural George T. Smith Trophy event at Aberdeen Golf Club on Tuesday.

A stroke and putting game was put on for the 32 players with special guests on the day being George's sons Stephen and Greg Smith who played, and George's wife Betty.
The winner with nett 68 was Albert Colbert, in second place was Ross Banks 71, third Bruce Robinson 74 C/B, fourth Des Partridge C/B 74 and fifth Terry Mitchell 74 C/B.
Balls went to Greg Smith and President Paul Gorman 74, Doug Dowell, Reg Davidson and Lindsay Hodge 75 and on 76 Gary Gray, John Belfield and Graham Boles.
The Bradman's trophy, kindly donated by Gary Morley was won by Graham Turvey. Best scratch score was Ross Banks on 78. The putting wine, kindly donated by Aberdeen Recreations Club was won by Emil Battista with 27 putts.
