But, the members of the Colts' ladies league tag side should be still proud of their efforts against an experienced outfit.
In the end, recently-promoted Fingal Bay proved too strong to run out winners 26-4 in the Newcastle and Hunter Community Rugby League competition at Greta Central Oval on Saturday.
After knocking over the Hamilton Ducks 18-10 in their previous outing, the team's maiden victory of the season, the Colts started promisingly.
Winger Morgan Keys touched down to give the hosts a 4-0 lead.
However, Fingal Bay struck back to secure the advantage 6-4 at the quarter-time break.
They then extended that margin to 16-4 by half-time.
The Colts displayed plenty of fighting qualities after the interval, restricting the visitors to just a further 10 points.
Greta Branxton will now enjoy a bye this Saturday, August 15.
In the other A grade fixture, Raymond Terrace defeated Maitland United 26-4.
