Hunter Valley Police District officers investigating Scone location after human remains allegedly found

A CRIME scene has been established in the Upper Hunter after reports surfaced at the weekend that human remains were allegedly found near Scone.

Officers from Hunter Valley Police District are currently in attendance at the location, believed to be Gundy Road, following the shocking discovery on Sunday, August 2.

A heavy police presence is in the area.

"An investigation is taking place at the moment," a NSW Police Media spokesperson said.

"And, the remains will undergo a forensic examination to identify if they're human or not.

"So, our inquiries are continuing."

No other details were made available at this stage.
