Devised by the Where Theres a Will (WTAW) Foundation, the initiative aims to ensure the Upper Hunter emerges from the coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis in the best headspace possible.
Its also an extension of the Positive Education programs WTAW is funding in schools across the district.
From Monday (May 4) until Friday for six weeks, those following the challenge will be presented with a fact relating to wellbeing, given an action to take to promote wellbeing and encouraged to share images and videos of themselves putting it to work.
Marika Eveleigh (St Josephs High Aberdeen), Kirsty Hails and Cathy Gatwood (Scones Yellow Cottage) and former Muswellbrook High principal Elizabeth Bate, who lead the Positive Education programs in their schools, have been instrumental, ensuring it has a particular relevance to life in the Upper Hunter.
The challenge will culminate on Friday, June 19, with everyone in the region encouraged to cook a barbecue in their backyard at 6pm.
McKinnon, who has shown all sorts of mental strength during his career and in adjusting to life in a wheelchair since his football accident, says the event is a timely reminder for him to prioritise his own wellbeing.
Wellbeing is about preparing yourself to go through challenges and uncontrollable change in your life and were all experiencing that at the moment with Covid-19, he explained.
The reality is everyone will go through something they didnt see coming.
But, if you take measures before it happens, it can help you address it and push through whatever you come across.
