The Catholic Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle has recognised this, and is taking action to ensure those who wished to attend Easter services will still be able to take part.
Bishop Bill Wright will be live-streaming his service for Holy Thursday (7 pm), Good Friday (3 pm), Easter Vigil (7 pm) and Easter Sunday (9:30 am) from Sacred Heart Cathedral in Newcastle.
They begun the tactic on March 29, and have enjoyed great success thus far with Palm Sunday last weekend reaching almost 12,000 views and an estimated audience of more than 20,000.
Encouragingly, young people are responding well to the idea with almost a quarter of all viewers aged between 18-34 years, and more than half 54 years of age or younger.
This Bishop is spreading the message that in such troubling times, religion can help provide an outlet to push through.
"We do not touch each other, we speak at a distance, and we do not know for how long life will be like this," he said.
"Into this fearful, apprehensive world comes the story of Easter."
The Paschal Triduum celebration will be live-streamed on the Diocesan YouTube channel which is accessible via the Diocesan website www.mn.catholic.org.au/places/live-stream/ .
Bishop Bill has also recorded an Easter message, which can be found via this link.
