If Denman was to embark on a tenure in the SDCA first grade competition there's every chance the theoretical promotion would be inspired by the form of Karl Bowd.

In just his second year as captain the 24-year-old has taken out his second straight SDCA second grade player of the year award.
This one proved to be the most memorable after he was sidelined for the opening passage of the season due to a head injury.
"It's sort of a surprise because I didn't think I'd have enough points to win it," Bowd told the Singleton Argus this evening.
"I managed to find some form towards the end but there was also a bit of luck in a couple of games there between some dropped catches and decisions that went my way.
"But it all comes with the territory.
"Ultimately, it was just good to go back out there and enjoy a bit of cricket with the boys."
Bowd's proved to be the region's best with the bat in the final month of the regular season when scoring three centuries in four weeks.
While Denman were unable to add to their minor premiership, due to the cancellation of the season, his late form would guide him past Travis Batch (PCH) and Troy Barnett (Valley) to secure the individual award.
"My teammates would tell me to go out and score another hundred but I tried to block that out and focus on what needed to be done," he continued.
"This year our team was more settled with the juniors coming through and this year our team was more settled with both bowling and the batting in the middle order."
Whether Denman would have gone on to claim the second grade title remains to be known.
However one thing is for sure, this afternoon's individual honour typifies Bowd's contribution to the club since making his return from City United (Maitland) in the past three years.
