The organisation - along with National Parks and Wildlife Service, Fire and Rescue NSW and the Forestry Corporation - closed Putty Road on Boxing Day to undertake back-burning operations between Milbrodale Road and Colo Heights Road.
And, even though that action has helped somewhat, a further round of searing temperatures loom on the horizon - putting crews on high alert again.
"It was important to carry out back-burning while we had good weather," NSW RFS Hunter Valley operational officer Leanne Bell said.
"Especially, ahead of what we're expecting [this week].
"The experts are predicting mid-40s, with New Year's Eve (Tuesday, December 31) to be the hottest day.
"Although we should experience a cooler change in the evening.
'Despite that, the Little L Complex bushfire - in the Yengo National Park within the Singleton LGA - is still at risk of embers.
"So, we needed to strengthen containment lines and protect properties while conditions permitted us to do so.
"Putty Road also remains shut - and will be for a couple more days, due to the Kerry Ridge fire in the neighbouring Muswellbrook LGA.
"We'd like to believe people were understanding of the road closures, as we don't make those decisions lightly."
The NSW RFS will conduct a number of community meetings, too, on Sunday, December 29.
One is scheduled to occur at Broke Hall, in Adair Street, from 9.30am, while another is slated for Bulga Hall, in The Inlet Road, at 2pm.
"It's an opportunity to keep residents up-to-date," Ms Bell said.
"We'll inform them on what we think will happen over the coming days and the plans we've got in place.
"It is a chance for locals to ask questions as well.
"Communication is vital [for everyone] at these times."
Ms Bell also praised the community for its generosity, with donations of Christmas hams, baked biscuits, equipment and much more flowing in for the hard-working volunteer firefighters.
"We'd like to thank those who've given us goods," she said.
"It's been amazing - and overwhelming.
"It truly is wonderful to receive that kind of support.
"Even though we supply the men and women healthy meals, special treats like ice blocks, flavoured chips and Powerade wouldn't go astray either.
"That's the kind of stuff we need.
"So, if people want to donate anything, contact your local RFS brigade."
Meanwhile, a man was charged after allegedly deliberately lighting two fires in the Hunter region.
Just after 11pm on Friday, December 27, officers from Hunter Valley Police District were on the scene of a bushfire near Greta Street, Aberdare, when they noticed a male emerging from bushland covered in soot.
After police spoke with the man, he was arrested and taken to Cessnock Police Station, before being taken to hospital for assessment.
Upon release, he was escorted back to Maitland Police Station and charged with two counts of intentionally cause fire and be reckless as to its spread.
Police will allege in court the man deliberately lit two fires in bush area - one at about 3.30pm near Cessnock Road, Neath, and the second near Greta Street, Aberdare, about 11pm.
He was granted conditional bail and is due to appear before Cessnock Local Court on Wednesday, January 29.
