Consumer advocate CHOICE complained to the regulator that Aussie's claims of finding Australians the 'best loan' are unfounded and described it as an "outpost of the Commonwealth Bank".

Citing research by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission, CHOICE claimed Aussie sent two in five loans straight to the Commonwealth Bank, the broker's owner.

Aussie hit back saying CHOICE hadn't approached it with the concerns and if it had done, the broker would have been able to show their assertions are "inaccurate and misleading to consumers".

"Aussie is aware of its obligations and is disappointed that CHOICE has targeted the company and other brokers in its campaign to defame an industry that exists to ensure consumers have options and choice," it said in a statement on Sunday.

It said approximately two-thirds of loans referred by Aussie are through non-major bank lenders, while its own loans are funded by a number of lenders.

Aussie claims the percentage of loans referred to the Commonwealth Bank averaged between 10 and 13 per cent in the last three financial years.

"The remainder of Aussie-branded loans have been funded by three other, non-major bank lenders."

Choice has complained to ASIC, asking the regulator to investigate Aussie's claims and hold them to account.
