Year 5 students from Muswellbrook's St James' Primary toured the region's newest site on Thursday, November 7, under the guidance of Mount Pleasant Operation and Thiess employees who acted as hands-on, expert guides.
The dialogue's program is offered to every school in the Singleton-Muswellbrook-Aberdeen catchment area and teaches local students about the benefits and impacts of mining.
2019 was the second full year of the UHMD's School Mine Tours Program, which hosted 775 pupils from 18 schools in 22 tours across 12 mine sites over the past 12 months.
The successful initiative is scheduled to return in 2020.
