ORGANISERS of the 2019 Upper Hunter Beef Bonanza are anticipating record entries for cattle with 480 steers and heifers expected this week at Scone's White Park.

Last year's event - sponsored by Waverley Station - drew support from 880 competitors ranging in age from primary school students right through to 18-year-olds.
It is the largest beef cattle youth event of its kind to be staged anywhere in Australia.
"A huge thank you goes to all the schools and breeders for your entries into the 2019 Upper Hunter Beef Bonanza," president Charles Mill said.
"Entries this year are higher than ever and your support is greatly appreciated, particularly with the widespread impact of the drought.
"Preparations are well underway for the 2019 event and we are looking forward to seeing you all."
There has been widespread interest from schools, not just in the Hunter but across NSW, including Yass High, Coonamble High, Lake Cargelligo Central as well as newcomers like Orange Anglican Grammar, Bundarra Central and Henry Lawson High, Grenfell.
The three-day bonanza kicks off on Friday, October 25, and continues until Sunday, October 27, at White Park.
