Clinical psychologist from the Centre for Emotional Health, Department of Psychology at Macquarie University, Dr Lauren McLellan, will be addressing what causes anxiety in preschool and primary school age children and how it develops.
This is a great opportunity for parents, carers, grandparents, teachers, community members or service providers to have their questions answered and learn how to better identify, respond and manage anxiety in children.
Dr McLellan will also provide information about useful resources, including how members of the Upper Hunter community can now access the evidence-based Cool Little Kids and Cool Kids program remotely.
"We understand anxiety is quite prevalent in many children today and a lot of parents are struggling with their children and how to support them," Michelle Owen, family support worker at Upper Hunter Community Services said.
"Dr McLellan visited Muswellbrook five years ago and her presentation was very well attended with a lot of positive feedback."
Thanks to a generous donation from Mangoola Coal's workforce, this event is now being brought back to the community for free and will take place at Muswellbrook RSL Club on Wednesday October 23 from 6.30pm.
A light supper will be provided and bookings are appreciated for catering purposes by calling 65423555 or booking online at www.trybooking.com/BFMMG.
"We've already had a great response so far for registrations via Trybooking," Ms Owen added.
