About 8pm, Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) crews from Muswellbrook, Aberdeen and Denman - along with Hunter Valley Police District officers and NSW Ambulance paramedics - responded to a blaze in Buddens Lane.
There were large amounts of heavy smoke and flames billowing from the property on their arrival.
The FRNSW teams worked to extinguish the fire, when they were informed of a litter of pups inside the house.
The crews conducted a search and rescue, successfully locating and removing five puppies in the laundry and one outside the back door.
They then retreated to fight the fire from the outside, due to danger of a subsequent roof collapse.
FRNSW members from Denman assisted the paramedics to monitor and treat the occupants.
Unfortunately, the house suffered major damage as a result of the fire.
But, thankfully, no major injuries were reported.
