Police find body on a property at Scone during investigations into 47-year-old missing man

HUNTER Valley Police District (HVPD) Commander Superintendent Chad Gillies confirmed police found a body on property at Scone during their investigations into a missing man.

HVPD has been investigating the disappearance of a 47-year-old male, who was last seen at an Owens Gap property four weeks ago.

When the man failed to return home on Tuesday, May 21, family members notified officers from HVPD who began inquiries.

"Yesterday afternoon police located the body of a male in a vehicle at Owens Gap and as a result of that a crime scene was established and an investigation is underway," Superintendent Gillies said.

"We are now waiting a postmortem and formal confirmation of identification."

Superintendent Gillies said the circumstances were not being treated as suspicious.
