The initiative, which was held in Muswellbrook last year, is run by Upper Hunter Community Services (UPCS) and gives those involved an opportunity to show their skills or even teach others.

Community and youth development officer at UPCS, Rebecca Eveleigh, said the interaction between the generations was one of the highlights of the day.

"It's been amazing, it's been really good and it's so good to see all the young people getting along so well," she said.

"It's also so good to see all the older guys teaching the younger guys stuff as well so it's been a really positive atmosphere here today."

The competition, which was set into age groups of girls, under 10's, 11-14, and 15 years of age and above was all played out in good spirit and it made for an incredible Sunday outing for those involved.

Ms Eveleigh also spoke about how crucial it is to get children out of the house, away from screens and finding a physical hobby.

"It's so important just to get them outside, and this is a sport and it's getting much more popular too which is good," she said.

With skateboarding being an official event at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, there's plenty of motivation for the youngsters in Denman to do as many flips and ollies as they can, although they seemed to be enjoying it regardless of skill level.
