Not only will the organisation screen the multi Academy Award-winning movie Green Book on Friday, April 12, from 7.30pm, the digital cinema project is scheduled to be officially launched.
"Scone Films has been the recipient of a number of grants from the NSW Government, AGL Macquarie, Upper Hunter Shire Council and the Foundation for Regional and Rural Renewal," Catherine Boulton said.
"This funding's enabled us to upgrade to digital cinema.
"It means a much better quality picture and improved surround sound, with access to a more diverse range of films.
"So, join us in celebrating this Friday with some of our grant supporters, at the screening of Green Book that won the Oscar for Best Picture among other awards.
"To add to the festive evening, wine and nibbles will be served for $5."
Victor Hugo Green wrote the first edition of The Negro Motorist Green Book in 1936.
It carried reviews and information about New York hotels, restaurants and services that welcomed black customers.
It was so successful that he expanded it to cover the whole country.
Dr Don Shirley (Mahershala Ali) is a world-class African-American pianist, who is about to embark on a concert tour in the Deep South in 1962.
In need of a driver and protection, Shirley recruits Tony Lip (Viggo Mortensen), a tough-talking bouncer from an Italian-American neighbourhood in the Bronx.
Despite their differences, the two men soon develop an unexpected bond while confronting racism and danger in an era of segregation.
Green Book collected three Academy Awards in 2019, including Best Picture, Best Supporting Actor (Ali) and Best Original Screenplay.
It also won three Golden Globes for Best Picture, Best Supporting Actor (Ali) and Best Screenplay.
"The film has received many other accolades, with Rolling Stone describing it as 'heartfelt and hilarious. Hugely entertaining' and 'a timely, feel-good movie'," Ms Boulton said.
"If you haven't been before, come along and support your local community cinema.
"As always, there is a warm welcome for everyone.
"There's no membership; it's open to all."
