2018-19 SDCA second grade - grand final preview with captains Andrew Thomas (JPC) and Karl Bowd (Denman)

AS we start the countdown to this weekend's SDCA grand finals we catch up with the competing captains from across the region.

We continue by previewing Saturday's second grade decider between JPC and Denman at Cook Park 3 at 12.30pm.

Powerhouse JPC will be led by Andrew Thomas while Denman's dynamic Karl Bowd will hope to guide his club to a maiden SDCA title.

BACK TO BACK: JPC players have cast their eyes on another second grade title.

BACK TO BACK: JPC players have cast their eyes on another second grade title.

The opposing leaders joined us to share a few predictions ahead of the decider:

PLAYER TO WATCH AND WHY?

Andrew Thomas: Denman the big three in Bowd, Apps and Mills they are all match winners in their own right while JPC's Alex Stafa is a genuine all-rounder and is bowling with really good pace.

Karl Bowd: The player to watch in the final I think is Shaun Wilkins a young opening fast bowler, he bowled the best I've seen him bowl last week in the semi-final.

WHAT ARE YOUR CROWD EXPECTATIONS?

AT: I am expecting some good numbers as Denman always support their teams well. We have two teams playing at Cook Park on Saturday so I would like to think that both teams are well supported.

KB: I don't think there'll be a big (crowd) but I hope there are plenty of supporters from both teams there to watch the final.

WHAT WEATHER WOULD SUIT YOUR SIDE ON SATURDAY?

AT: Being minor premiers two weekends of washouts would be good - just joking! As long as the pitches and grounds are well prepared it won't make a difference to our team.

KB: I hope it is a nice sunny day so we can put on a great grand final.

TEAMMATE MOST LIKELY TO GO OUT FOR A DUCK?

AT: We have more than one contender for this honour so I will have to say me to keep the pressure off the others (they will know who they are).

KB: Probably Steve Andrews because he is always worrying about batting on turf.

TEAMMATE MOST LIKELY TO DROP A CATCH?

AT: Me again, unfortunately the stats are not in my favour this year.

KB: Marcus Baker is not the most comfortable under the ball.

TEAMMATE MOST LIKELY TO TAKE MONDAY OFF WORK?

AT: Corey Martin (Our Mr Criiiickkeeettttt) and he is not even playing.

KB: Myself.

TEAMMATE MOST LIKELY TO READ ABOUT HIMSELF IN THE PAPER?

AT: Ashley Borg (JPC).

KB: Jackson Ball is the most likely to read about himself because he likes to talk himself up and clout and his probably the best at it too.

HEADLINE WE ARE LIKELY TO SEE IN THE PAPER?

AT: Back to back titles for the Colts.

KB: Denman win by five wickets with five overs to go.

HEADLINE YOU WOULD LIKE TO SEE IN THE PAPER?

AT: Dann Destroys Denman.

KB: Chris Bradford takes six wickets.

FINAL PREDICTION?

AT: JPC home in a tight finish.

KB: Denman wins the 2nd grade grand final.
