The Upper Hunter District Women's Bowling Association has brought up seven decades of fun and socialising, with quite a few triumphs on the green as well.
President Janine Katon said the organisation boasted a rich history – and it was a crucial outlet for members of the community.
“It’s very important because if we don't have this Upper Hunter district, our ladies would have to travel to Singleton, Cessnock and Maitland to play bowls,” she explained.
“So, it’s extremely important we keep the game going in the Upper Hunter.”
She is keen to shore up the future of the club and is encouraging others to get involved, spruiking their numerous victories throughout the years.
“We’ve been very successful,” Katon said.
“Times are changing now but we’re going alright for a small country area.
“We just need some younger ladies so if anyone’s interested in joining any of our six clubs, I would love for them to come along.”
There are sides for Aberdeen, Scone Bowing Club, Scone RSL, Merriwa, Denman and Muswellbrook, meaning there are plenty of options for those looking to participate.
