The Branxton Town Centre Draft Public Domain Plan and Draft Development Control Plan proposes significant improvements to the town centre including new pavements, street tree planting, a new public square and upgrades to the Branxton Oval car park.
The completion of the draft plan came after a community workshop in August 2017 where the community provided input into the plan. The community were consulted again in October 2018.
Cessnock City Council said there was great interest from the community with about 40 residents attending the session.
Cessnock mayor Bob Pynsent said it was wonderful so see so many residents keen to be involved in the future of their town.
“The response from the community was fantastic," he said.
"The input of the residents has been extremely valuable.”
Council has secured more than $400,000 in state government funding to start work in Branxton including pavement improvements and a new public square. These works will start following consideration of community suggestions and council's adoption of the plans.
Council will hold a public information session at the Branxton Golf Course on February 28 between 3pm and 7.30pm.
The exhibition continues until March 20 and is available for view at council’s Administration Building, Cessnock and Kurri Kurri libraries, Branxton Post Office, Branxton IGA, Richardson and Wrench Real Estate and cessnock.nsw.gov.au
