But, this season, they’re doing a bit more, by also giving a hand to Aussie Helpers who have been fighting hard against the drought.
The game itself is a competitive fixture, however it’s always played in good spirits, between two sides that have a long and rich history, which runs all the way back to the 1800s.
Another aspect has recently been added with the Bushrangers jumping on board to play a T20 fixture against Bunnan at 9am, which will help raise even more money throughout the day.
The event was inspired by the Glenn McGrath Pink Stump Day with more than $100,000 being donated to the McGrath Foundation over the first six years.
But, Belltrees Cricket Club president Ben McRae said they’ve recently shifted their aim.
“In the past two years we’ve pushed our focus more to local charities with the Where there’s A Will foundation, and we’ve been able to raise $70,000 over that time,” he explained.
They have gained immense support in the past couple of seasons through local businesses who have been helping them raise as much funds as possible, with special mention being given to Ellerston Golf Club.
Raffles are getting more and more lucrative since the event’s inception, too, and the prize value now ranges from $40 up to $1000.
A chocolate wheel and other family-friendly items and activities will also be available on the day, which makes it the perfect place to spend a Saturday, especially given the cricket itself will be so crucial.
Belltrees are trying to break their way back into the top four as Rouchel attempts to hold off competitors coming for their second place finish, making this a mouth-watering fixture.
So, if you want to help the local community and watch a cracking game of cricket, then get out to the Belltrees Cricket Ground on Saturday, February 23, to see Bushrangers play Bunnan at 9am, and Belltrees take on Rouchel in the traditional fixture at 12.30pm.
