Following Saturday’s hit-out at Muswellbrook’s Olympic Park, selectors have named an impressive 20-strong line-up, which will take the field for the regional trials at Scully Park, Tamworth, on February 9.
The Mavettes boast the biggest representation in the squad, with Merriwa supplying a further five Magpies – a terrific result from two of the smaller clubs in Group 21.
Kimberley Brown, Jodie Holman, Lucy Pruden, Grace Roach, Tracey Saunders and Hannah Turkington will fly the Murrurundi flag, while Gaynor Blackadder, Shai Blackadder, Taylah Blackadder, Kelly Maslen and Jessyca Morgan are guaranteed to do Merriwa proud.
Successful mentor Matthew Morgan, who guided the Magpies to the recent women’s nines crown, will coach the outfit.
Joining the side in 2019 is Aberdeen’s Jorja Edwards, Greta Branxton trio Caitlin Albury, Brooke Davis and Taylor Quinton-Widl, Muswellbrook’s Shae Pemberton and Scone quartet Samantha Elphick, Grace Gallen, Sophie Hinde and Georgia Watts.
The outfit will begin training at Olympic Park, Muswellbrook, on Thursday, January 24, from 6.30pm.
Further sessions are scheduled for Monday, January 28; Thursday, January 31; Monday, February 4; and Thursday, February 7, at the same venue.
