That’s the promise from vice-president Graham Turvey after the committee hosted its final meeting for 2018 at the Muswellbrook RSL Club to ratify any changes to the syllabus in 2019.
While a few of the executive positions are still being filled, Mr Turvey will be joined by Una Garland, Adrienne Casey, Jennifer Lecky, Ashleigh Garland, Ian Richards, Vicki French and Nate Adamthwaite on the board, with Christine Rogers the annual event’s patron.
“In the new year, the eisteddfod committee and the Upper Hunter Conservatorium of Music (UHCM) will work closely together,” he said.
“So, we thank UHCM director Dr Wendy Brooks and look forward to a mutually beneficial partnership.
“Social media will be used more in 2019, too, and Ashleigh [Garland] is coordinating our Facebook page.
“I’d like to welcome the new members to the committee, including minutes’ secretary Una Garland.
“Once more, we express our gratitude to our wonderful backers, especially major sponsor Bengalla Mining Company for its support.
“A new sponsor for 2019 is the Scone Rotary Club.
“The [event] program should be finalised after January 11, when the syllabus is completed.”
The Muswellbrook & Upper Hunter Eisteddfod will boast many experience convenors, such as Adrienne Casey and Una Garland (piano), Jennifer Lecky and Dr Wendy Brooks (instrumental, school bands and school choirs), Rachel Ann Wilcher and Ashleigh Garland (vocal), Adrienne Casey and Scott Dulley (pipe organ), Adrienne Casey (creative writing), and Graham Turvey and Ruth Hoye (speech, drama and public speaking).
The dance role is yet to be named.
