The event will pit the “the sports-minded and athletically-impaired” against each other in variety of disciplines including golf, lawn bowls, pool and darts. 

The day’s best performer will take home the coveted Clubtathlete of the Year award.

It will be the second time Murrurundi will host the event after former local Anthony “Ando” Taylor brought it to the town for the first time in 2017.

“Last year was really good and I’m confident this [year] will be even better,” Anderson said.

“Initially, I wasn’t going to host it but I had several phone calls from guys telling me that if I didn’t run it they’d do it themselves.

“So we are putting it together and have 16 guys lined up which is little bit more than last year, which is great.”

This weekend’s event will have a change in structure as competitors will now form teams, as opposed to playing individually.

“So at this stage for this year’s event, we will have eight teams of two,” Anderson said.

“Everyone will play in groups of four but instead of playing for individual honours we are in teams.

“We will still have the clubtahlete of the year for the best performer as well.

“The other change we will be implementing for this year’s event is a shortened format.

“Last year was a bit too long and after taking some feedback from some of the guys involved we decided to shorten it up a bit.”

Anderson said the event would kick off at the Murrurundi Golf Club on Saturday morning with late comers being “100 per cent welcome”.

“It’s a really fun day and anyone who wants to get involved is more than welcome,” he said.

“Our motto for the competition is that is for the sports-minded and athletically-impaired, so it doesn’t matter about skill or experience or anything like that.

“Everyone is more than welcome.”
